Testimonials and Comments David Lawrence Jones has visited a number of schools throughout the UK and here are just a few comments received following his presentations;
Stokeinteignhead Primary School, Newton Abbot - March 2013
Hi David, I just wanted to say a very big thank you for visiting our school last week for World Book Day. You really have inspired some readers and I am now getting daily updates of what is happening in book 1 so far! It's eally lovely to see them fired up about reading and books again. I have no doubt that we will see you again at some point in the future, but many thanks once again.
Kind regards, Joanna (Stokeinteignhead Primary School)
Gatehouse Primary School in Dawlish - March 2013
Hi David, Thank you for our presentation and book signing.
Lots of staff came to find me yesterday to say how brilliant your presentation was. They said how inspiring it was for all. Some teachers commented that even some of their reluctant readers said how you made them excited about books - thank you.
Thank you once again, Claire Henderson
Sidmouth C of E Primary School, Devon - December 2012
On Monday and Tuesday this week, Key Stage 2 were very privileged to have a visit from David Lawrence Jones, a published children’s author. He spoke to the children on Monday, explaining where his inspiration for his books comes from (he first came up with many of the ideas at the age of 9!) and then used some of the children to act out the opening chapters of his first book, ‘Bradley Baker and the Curse of Pathylon.’
On Tuesday, he returned to hold a book signing. He sold a record number of books to the children, so many in fact that he donated a full set of his trilogy to our school library for free! Since Tuesday morning, children have been spoed all around the Woolbrook Road site with their noses well and truly stuck into copies of David Lawrence Jones’s books!
• “The book hooks you in! You don’t want to stop reading it!” Alisha Kay, 6M
• “The Bradley Baker books are epic!” Kieran Greenaway, 6M
• “It is really good and I hope I can read all the series.” Will Lorkin, 6M
Our Lady & St Patrick's - Author visit 11th July 2012
David’s visit to our school was inspirational! The children were spellbound during his presentation and asked lots of questions afterwards. David took the time to talk to each child as he signed copies of his books and also visited each class and spoke to the children about his books and their own stories as well. He showed a genuine interest in each and every child and created a real buzz of excitement around school. Children as young as 6 were avidly reading his books – even at wet playtimes! Even our most reluctant readers and writers were inspired – one told David his presentation was ‘brilliant’. I would highly recommend a visit by David!

Friday 15th June 2012 - White Rock Primary School, Paignton
The presentation was amazing! Interactive, fun, inspiring - everything that is needed to create a love of reading and writing within children of all ages! David took the time to speak to each and every child when signing their books and he showed a genuine interest in them and their views. Thanks David a for a truly brilliant day - the whole school loved it!!

After a highly interactive dynamic presentation which was great fun for everyone, the children had the opportunity to ask David questions.David also stayed for a book signing event (which was very successful) where the children were able to meet a ‘real life’ author. A reluctant reader from our class purchased ‘Bradley Baker and the Curse of Pathylon’ and has set himself a challenge to read the whole book! David’s energy, passion and enthusiasm clearly left a positive impression on the pupils.

We would like to say how much we enjoyed David’s visit to our school. The children were captivated by his introduction to the Bradley Baker stories. We learned how Bradley and his friends found the coin that became a magical portal to the world of Pathylon. David’s lively and very visual telling of the story saw a group of children taking on the role of some of the central characters. Referring to the map took us into this world. David’s use of props brought the story to life, particularly the glowing, smoking bath, complete with sound effects! David also gave us a glimpse of what it is like to be an author, from how he gets inspiration for his characters to how long it took him to create the Bradley baker stories. An enthusiastic question and answer session was followed by a busy book signing. The children left inspired and keen to read the books and enter the Bradley baker book competition. Thursday 1st March 2012 - St Marychurch Primary School, Torquay
Today was World Book Day and to celebrate, all children were given the chance to dress up as their favourite book character as well as experience a whole day of 'book' related activities! In the afternoon the children in years 3 to 6 got to meet David Lawrence Jones! He is a famous local author and has written two books about a character named Bradley Baker! David, with the help of some of the children, reinacted a scene from his second book. The children all had a great time and also learnt a bit about what to do if they wanted to become authors too! Lots of children bought copies of his book and even had them personally signed. We would like to thank David for coming into our school and sharing his experiences... Chris Hallett - Year 5 Teacher
