Here's an introductory word from David;

"Meeting school children all over the UK to present my Bradley Baker adventures is a fantastic experience for me and everyone involved with the events. I visit more schools during the academic year than most authors could imagine, at least three schools every week... especially when working with the area network lead
to co-ordinate a local competition and awards project!

So why do I visit so many schools up and down the country? Well, the answer's to that is easy... I absolutely love it! And judging by the reaction and the feedback I receive from the children and teachers... they love it too!!! I never fail to be amazed at just how much the children's energy feeds my enthusiasm... it's what drives me forward and supplies me with the appetite I need to continue with my writing.

It's hard work but it's oh-so-worth all the effort! To have so many children enthused & inspired about my books and witness their hunger for reading increase following my visits is absolutely brilliant! How long will I keep presenting at schools? Until I collapse in an exhausted heap, I guess! And as long as my Bradley Baker adventure books continue to inspire children to read!"

Inspirational School Visits:

David's presentations are very interactive and he is becoming one of the most sought after children's authors... most of his visits are booked through recommendations from other schools that have already experienced his inspiring events. During the course of an academic year he aims to present to over a hundred schools to meet thousands of children. His visits are taking him all over the UK and David has started to increase the number of author presentations to meet the demand.

David uses lot's of visual props during his show to bring the Bradley Baker stories to life. The presentations are dynamic and great fun for everyone. The children even get the opportunity to take part and enact some scenes from his adventure books. His energy, passion and enthusiam leave a lasting impression on both children and teaching staff.

Structure of Author Visits:

Age Group:
Most of David's visits are suitable for both KS1 & KS2 students... Yrs 2 through to 6 in Primary Schools, Junior Schools and Preparatory Schools.

Audience Size:
The bigger the audience the better... David and the children get a real buzz when the show's interaction is allowed to feed the atmosphere inside the room. School halls are best and audiences up to 400 can be presented to without the use of a microphone.

Length of Presentation:
Brixham_Presentation_with_BathTypically 1 hour straight through with a signing event to follow. David brings most of the equipment he needs including some fantastic interactive props for the show and a powerpoint presentation, just occasionally asking the school to provide a computer to insert the memory stick and a screen to project the presentation.

Book Signings:
Always a
valuable experience for the pupils. Book signings are generally carried out the day following the presentation giving the children and parents a chance to discuss the books and decide their requirements. David will bring an information sheet for the pupils to take home after the presentation.

We will also supply a template letter to the school before the event so the children can take it home to discuss the theme of the event with their parents (schools are welcome to edit the letter to their specific requirements if they so wish).

Key Stage Exercises:
We can supply Bradley Baker literacy exercise sheet templates for all key stages to complete in preparation or post of the author visit. Your children will then have the opportunity to enter these into an area schools competition to win some great prizes (including vouchers to spend at your local bookstore).
